Description
Watching Brief undertaken by CKC Archaeology in 2002 during the construction of new apartments and a retail unit on the site of 74-76 Hight Street, Cosham. The excavation of a basement under the most recent buildings on the site had removed any archaeology that may have been present along the street front. Documentary research suggested that until the early-20th century, the site appeared to have been within farmland that may have once been part of a medieval open field system. The site was not occupied by street front buildings until between 1910 and 1932.
