Full Description
English Falcon cannon recovered from Portsmouth Harbour. This gun has been identified as having been cast in the Kent Weald by Robert Sackville 2nd Earl of Dorset between 1590 and 1605. It is thought to be part of a small number of guns Sackville was allowed to cast for non-military use and was therefore almost certainly intended for use on a merchant ship. It is not known how it came to be in the harbour. See Queen Elizabeth Class Capital Dredge Project report for detailed description.
UID: BWL1_0051 in Queen Elizabeth Class Capital Dredge Project report.
